 The Private Chauffeur is a certain person or individual which is employed or contracted exclusively by a private employer of of a transportation company.  The Employer may be an individual, family, corporation, government organization that is licensed to operate in that state. The Job duties, requirements, and expectations will vary by the type of company. This is an elite chauffeur position, shared by few or by many. The main reason to employ or contract a private chauffeur is to staff a professional to take care of travel needs safely and confidentially. 

Confidentiality is a critical element for a private chauffeur. The wealthy and sometimes famous are often burdened by their status and like their privacy. Curious people and the media are willing to stop at nothing to get information about them and will go to drastic measures to get up close and personal. The customer always has the right to privacy and will need to be assured their staff is loyal and will not willingly give out personal information. Quite often, a chauffeur is required to protect their integrity and that of the family. Professional chauffeurs take this job seriously. He or she should always be aware of the complete environment surrounding the job at hand and always assure the safety and confidentiality of the individual that they are transporting. 

Make no mistake this job is rated difficult. A private chauffeur does not always have the benefit of a company behind them at times it’s their own selfish ways that are more important. They are a lone wolf that must possess training and experience to take care of any request without skipping a beat. The Employer must be confident this can be handled without instruction or training on their part. Professional chauffeurs take care of employer needs and reflect a professional image upon them at all times. It is not the employers job to understand what needs to be done but simply the chauffeurs job to get it done and done right without mistakes that can lead to the chauffer being let go.

A private chauffeur should always maintain a perfectly working vehicle for his or hers customers. The chauffer must inform the employer of any faulty equipment or failure to the limousine Although a newer and more state-of-the-art vehicle is recommended, it’s not always a must to keep everything safe for the customers. Most customers will simply appreciate a clean and spacious interior and in most cases a black exterior with all of the essentials functioning proper. Chauffeurs nowadays have a complete assortment of options ranging from a sedan, SUV, van or a larger stretch limousine.

Maintain all of the proper Qualifications. To become a private chauffeur, the qualifications may vary from state to state. In most cases, a clean driving record and state driver’s license is sufficient. In other cases, a state CDL and compliance of additional state recommended training courses may be required. Be sure to always carry proper insurance and registration information in the vehicle at all times. Some cities may require more safety inspections etc When driving a larger vehicle, be sure that vehicle has been properly safety inspected by the state you are working in and has passed all laws requiring it to operate on the streets.
